Univision Communications (Univision) on Thursday announced a new definition of the word “health care” that is aimed at making it easier for consumers to navigate the complex world of health insurance and health care costs.
The new definition uses the term “health insurance” instead of the more common “health plan” or “health benefits” and “health maintenance organization” instead, as well as the word ‘care.””
De Lima said that by creating a new health care definition, Univisons goal is to help consumers better understand the cost of their care.””
It’s important that consumers know what they are buying, what they pay for and what the benefits are.”
De Lima said that by creating a new health care definition, Univisons goal is to help consumers better understand the cost of their care.
“It’s an opportunity for consumers that want to get their health care questions answered and know more about their insurance coverage,” he said.
While Univisions definition of “health” is a little more complicated than most, the company said that it aims to make it easier to use, as consumers can still find information about health care insurance plans, medical and pharmacy benefits, copayments, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses in their health plans.
The company also said it plans to release more definitions and help people understand the different types of health plans available through the healthcare marketplace.
The new definition will help consumers understand the differences between medical and dental care plans and the different kinds of plans available to them.
“We want to make the health care information we provide more accessible for people to be able to compare the different plans that are available to help them make better decisions about what’s right for them,” de Lima said.
